A Day of Adventure and Discovery with Sun Valley Youth Center and SPREE

At SPREE, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to connect with nature, explore the world around them, and experience the joy that comes from learning in the great outdoors. That’s why we were thrilled to partner with the Sun Valley Youth Center for another unforgettable day of exploration and fun along the South Platte River.

The day began with excited smiles and eager anticipation as the kids from Sun Valley Youth Center arrived. Our team kicked things off with an animal mystery and a nature show-and-tell, where we introduced the kids to some of the fascinating creatures that call the South Platte River home.

After the show-and-tell, it was time to get hands-on! We guided the kids on a nature walk along the river, encouraging them to observe their surroundings, ask questions, and even collect small natural items for further exploration. The riverbanks were alive with activity, and it wasn’t long before the kids were pointing out insects, tracts, potential muskrat sightings, and interesting plant life!

But the day wasn’t just about learning – it was also about having fun! We made sure to include plenty of time for games and laughter, while staying as cool as we can in the hot summer sun!

We’re incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with the Sun Valley Youth Center and share the magic of SPREE with their amazing kiddos. At SPREE, we’re committed to providing inclusive, hands-on environmental education that inspires the next generation of environmental stewards. Days like this remind us of the importance of our mission and the joy that comes from connecting kids with the natural world.

We can’t wait to do it again and continue to spread the love for our beautiful South Platte River!
