Spring Break took an exciting twist this year as high school students from Denver embarked on an epic cross-country skiing adventure at the stunning Stevens Gulch Trail! Hosted by the Greenway Leadership Corps and Denver Parks & Recreation, this free event offered a perfect blend of outdoor fun, breathtaking views, and new skills – all tailored for beginners.
A Day to Remember
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, eager students gathered in Denver before boarding transportation to the trailhead. The anticipation was palpable as they made their way to the snow-covered trails, where the cross-country skiing journey awaited. With (free!) equipment provided and expert instruction on hand, students of all experience levels felt ready to embrace the challenge. For many participants, this was their very first time trying cross-country skiing, but the supportive and encouraging environment made it easy to learn. After a quick orientation and some essential tips from experienced instructors, students hit the trails, gliding through the snow with growing confidence. The serene beauty surrounded them at every turn – majestic snow-capped peaks, crisp mountain air, and the peaceful hush of winter. Along the way, students bonded over shared triumphs and laughter, making new friends as they mastered the art of skiing. Whether they wobbled or cruised smoothly, the enthusiasm was undeniable!
A Day Well Spent
All too soon, students were back on the bus, sharing stories and memories from their day on the trails. Whether they discovered a newfound love for cross-country skiing or simply enjoyed the fresh mountain air, everyone left with a sense of accomplishment and unforgettable memories.
