Greenway Foundation Staff Retreat: Team-Building Adventures at Genesee Park

This summer, the Greenway Foundation team embarked on a fun and adventurous retreat at Genesee Park! We were welcomed by the fantastic Denver Parks and Recreation staff at the Genesee Challenge Course, where we spent the day building confidence, strengthening communication, and celebrating both team and individual growth.

Throughout the retreat, we took on a variety of challenges designed to test our teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills. With the guidance and encouragement of the incredibly supportive Parks and Rec team, we leaned into each activity with positivity and a shared determination to succeed.

One particularly memorable challenge was the low ropes course, where we were tasked with staying physically connected as a group while navigating obstacles without losing our balance. It wasn’t easy, but through trust, clear communication, and a lot of encouragement, we made it through- together.

After tackling the low ropes, we geared up for the high ropes course—an optional but exciting part of the experience. True to the “Challenge by Choice” philosophy embraced by Denver Parks and Rec, each team member was empowered to choose their level of participation based on personal comfort.

For some, the high ropes presented a real test of courage. But with cheers, support, and words of encouragement from teammates on the ground, many of us reached new heights- literally and figuratively. It was inspiring to watch colleagues push past their fears and discover just how capable they truly are.

This retreat was more than just a day outdoors- it was an opportunity to grow stronger as a team, support one another, and celebrate each person’s and the team’s unique strengths.

A huge thank you to Denver Parks and Recreation for hosting us and creating such a meaningful and empowering experience!
