I was introduced to SPREE in high school because of an internship that I did as a river ranger. We taught on an excursions, which is where I became interested in teaching younger kids about the environment. Later on that year of 2023, they offered me a job at SPREE as a river ranger during summer camp. I was able to understand kids better and teach them new things. I walked in not knowing much about anything, but over time I was learning alongside the kids. Later on, I was given the opportunity again to work as an environmental educator at SPREE again in which I took. SPREE felt like a good place to be at especially because one the careers I’m interested in is becoming a teacher. SPREE was a job where I wasn’t stuck to a classroom and inside all day. It attracted me more and influenced me to stay working at SPREE for one more year. Having the opportunity to teach kids from ages 6-11 and a handful of middle schoolers, but also learning myself throughout this experience, has made it enjoyable working at Spree. There is not a day that goes by where I am not learning, which is why I chose to work at SPREE.
