Reaching New Heights at the Genesee Challenge Course

Earlier this month, our Greenway Leadership Corps (GLC) crew set out for a day of adventure at the Genesee Challenge Course—and what a day it was!

Nestled in some towering Ponderosa Pines with breathtaking views of the mountains, the course gave participants the chance to test their balance, bravery, and problem-solving skills. From team-building games on the ground to high elements that had students climbing into the treetops while safely harnessed in, the day was filled with laughter, encouragement, and plenty of challenges.

One of the best parts of the experience was watching everyone cheer each other on. Whether it was on the ground while playing games or calling up words of encouragement to someone scaling a high element, the group came together in true GLC spirit—pushing past comfort zones and celebrating accomplishments big and small.

Of course, no GLC adventure is complete without good food, new friendships, and a chance to soak in Colorado’s mountain beauty. With transportation, gear, and meals provided, participants were free to focus on enjoying the day and making the most of every challenge.

This free event was open to all high school students, and those who joined left with more than just a sense of accomplishment—they left with stories, memories, and the confidence that comes from pushing limits.

We’re grateful to Denver Parks & Recreation for hosting us at the Genesee Challenge Course and can’t wait for our next adventure together!
