Our river ranger internship this year was so different and fun. We started our River Ranger Internship a little later than we expected this year but despite that we managed to have a super fun group. We had 6 Kipp Denver Collegiate students (Ami, Melvin, Javier, Chrys, Chris, and Juanito) each of which brought their own unique personality to the team.

We had a total of 8 days where we met with our interns. 2 of those days were used for training and learning more about what it means to be an environmental educator and how we educate at our field trips. We also got to know each other and we even got to meet some of our interns parents and adults.
4 days were used for our actual teaching. The first day our interns actually helped us translate to spanish while the observed all the lessons. Then it was time to decide what they wanted to teach. Once they decided they shadowed to get ready to teach. The third day they taught their lesson with a partner and the last day they taught it all on their own! They were so prepared ans taught so well they really showed us what environmental education is all about ( we even hired 3 of them to work for us this summer, stay tuned for that blog)

The last two days were all fun no work! Our interns participated in two of our GLC events ranging from XC Skiing all the way to kayaking. Overall we had a blast with our 2024-2025 interns and cant wait to see what next years internship brings us.
