Road Trip to FoCo with GLC

GLC ELC 2024 on campus

This past weekend, high school students from across the Denver area had the opportunity to participate in a free event at Colorado State University’s Environmental Learning Center (ELC) in Fort Collins. The day began with an invigorating hike through the secluded landscapes surrounding the ELC, where students immersed themselves in nature and learned about local ecosystems. Participants had the chance to engage in hands-on activities, identifying animal pelts and skulls, which provided a fascinating glimpse into the wildlife that thrives in Colorado. The highlight of the day was spotting a majestic bald eagle perched in its nest.

After a morning filled with exploration, students ventured onto the CSU campus, where they interacted with current college students. This informal setting allowed them to gain insights into college life, academics, and some of the opportunities available at CSU. The day wrapped up with a delightful picnic lunch, fostering connections among peers while enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather. On the way home, the group made a fun stop at Buc-ee’s, adding a memorable touch to an already exciting day. This event not only enriched students’ understanding of the environment but also inspired them to envision their futures in higher education.

We’re thrilled by this event and can’t wait for future opportunities to engage with students! Stay tuned for more exciting outings and experiences that combine learning, exploration, and fun. We look forward to welcoming even more high schoolers to our upcoming events!
