Summer Camp 2025 Registration Roll Out: everything you need to know!

This year SPREE is offering 3 unique themes over 6 weeks, featuring exciting guests, engaging activities, and lots of time by the River. Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar and subscribe to our emails to stay informed on all things SPREE Camp.

Program Changes (same as 2024)

After careful consideration and planning, this year’s SPREE Summer Camps will be limited to a duration of 6 weeks. Because of the new structure, here are the most significant changes:

Camp Hours
8:00am – 9:00am — Drop off
9:00am – 2:30pm — Summer Camp Activities
2:30pm – 3:30pm — Pick up
3:30pm – 4:30pm — After Care (additional cost)

Repeated Camp Themes: 6 Weeks, 3 Themes

This year, SPREE will have 3 unique themes over 6 weeks. That means each theme is run two times over the summer. Campers are allowed to attend more than one camp with the same themes. However, camps with the same theme/title have identical curricula and activities. We are not required to notify you if registering campers for camps with the same title. Transfers are not guaranteed.

Camp Themes

SPREE Force: Special Agent Training June 9th -13th & July 14th – 18th

Step into the world of SPREE’s secret agents! Campers will discover the origin stories of SPREE’s river heroes and explore the South Platte like never before. Through hands-on activities, and river explorations, kids will uncover the mysteries and legends behind our team of special agents!

Bioblitz June 23rd- 27th & July 28th – Aug 1st

Want to explore nature like a real naturalist? Join SPREE’s Bioblitz Camp by the South Platte River! Campers will learn plant and animal ID and nature skills and connect with special guest experts in biodiversity. It’s a hands-on adventure you won’t want to miss!

Art inspired by Nature July 7th-11th & Aug 4th – 8th

Get Inspired by the River! Nature is one of the best muses, and at SPREE’s art-themed camp, the South Platte River sets the stage! Pick up a pencil, chalk, or marker and create poems, paintings, and more—all inspired by the beauty of the river. Let’s make art together, fueled by nature’s wonders!

Priority Registration

With fewer weeks of summer camp, we know it will be harder than ever to get your camper signed up for the camp week you want. Because of this, we are offering a tiered priority registration system based on your level of monthly giving through the FrOG program. Through this, you can receive priority Camp registration up to two weeks early with your membership. You must become a FrOG by January 14, 2024 to receive priority registration.

We also have a FrOG points program that qualifies for priority registration. This program requires no financial commitments but rather volunteering opportunities! Through membership, donations, and volunteering, this program provides a tangible way for supporters to contribute to the health of the South Platte River and the educational outreach SPREE provides to the community. For questions on submitting your points for 2025 registration, email camp@greenwayfoundation.org.

January 14th Last Day to Become a FrOG & LIT applications close
January 29th Access for Creek Crusaders & River Rescuers
January 31st Access for Stream Savers
February 3rd Access for Water Warriors
Feb 6th Early Reg. Access CLOSES
Feb 10th Public Registration opens
May 1st Refund window closes. Any cancellations starting May 1 will not be refunded. Cancellations before May 1 can be refunded minus a $50 cancellation fee.

SPREE’s Leaders in Training (LIT) Program

If your camper is in 6th – 9th grade, they may be eligible for our LIT Program, where middle schoolers learn valuable leadership skills at camp. The LIT program is for former campers who have aged out of our camp program, but want to stay involved. We take their previous experience and current interest in the environment and give them leadership opportunities in our camp programs. Applications are due January 14th for new and returning LITs for 2025 SPREE Camps.*The application does require a letter of recommendation, but no interview.  Check out the program here.

Scholarship Applications

At The Greenway Foundation, we believe the river is for everyone and don’t want cost to be a barrier to attending our SPREE programs. We encourage families who need some help to apply for a scholarship. Scholarship applications for 2025 SPREE Camps are open. Visit our website to apply.

Pricing
Campers: $400
Leaders In Training: $335
After Care: $100 Fees are per child, per week.

A note on our pricing : We have had to increase our pricing because of the cost increase across the board. We know that can be difficult for many families, so we offer scholarships and payment plans. You can apply for a SPREE scholarship, or you can contribute to our SPREE scholarship fund here.

We also wanted you to know that SPREE, as part of the Colorado 501c3 non-profit organization The Greenway Foundation, does not profit from our summer camps. These price increases are necessary to deliver the value and quality that you and your family have come to expect in a camp experience.
Please be assured that this decision was made with the utmost consideration for the safety and well-being of all participants. We remain dedicated to providing a memorable and enriching experience for your children during the six weeks of SPREE Summer Camps.

That’s what you need to know for SPREE Summer Camp 2025! If you have any questions or concerns, please email camp@greenwayfoundation.org. We look forward to seeing your kiddos by the river this summer!
