Summer Camp 2026 Registration Roll Out: Everything you need to know!

SPREE is thrilled to bring three one-of-a-kind camp themes across six weeks, packed with hands-on activities, special guest visits, and plenty of time exploring and playing along the South Platte River. New for 2026: we’re introducing a middle-school-only week just for campers entering 6th–9th grade- no LIT application needed!

Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar and subscribe to our emails to stay informed on all things SPREE Camp.

Repeated Camp Themes: 6 Weeks, 3 Themes

Like last year, SPREE will have 3 unique themes over 6 weeks. That means each theme is run two times over the summer. Campers are allowed to attend more than one camp with the same themes. However, camps with the same theme/title have identical curricula and activities. We are not required to notify you if registering campers for camps with the same title. Transfers are not guaranteed.

2026 Camp Themes

South Platte River Sleuths: June 1 – 5 & July 20 – 24, 2026

The South Platte River is full of secrets- can you uncover them? This week, campers will explore the South Platte River like true investigators- solving the mysteries of the river and uncovering the hidden stories of the plants and animals that call it home. Through hands-on investigations, sharpening identification skills, and practicing ranger skills, every camper will become an eco-detective ready to protect and explore the South Platte.

Awesome “-OLOGIES”: June 8 – 12 & July 27 – 31, 2026

Are you ready to explore the world around you like a scientist? Join us in our “Ologies” camp! Each day, campers will explore the wonders of biology, geology, ichthyology, and more! From studying fish and bugs to investigating rocks and birds, campers will discover how each “-ology” connects to the plants, animals, and ecosystems of the South Platte River.

Camp Colorado-Ohhh!: June 15 – 19 & August 3 – 7, 2026

Bursting with life- from mountain peaks to prairie grasslands, Colorado is home to amazing wildlife, plants, and landscapes that define our state. Each day, campers will dive into a new Colorado ecosystem and learn about the unique state symbols- from incredible bighorn sheep to beautiful columbines. By the end of the week, campers will be experts in what makes Colorado wild, incredible, and definitely worth protecting!

BONUS WEEK! Junior Park Ranger Camp: July 13-17, 2026

New to SPREE is a camp week for middle-school aged campers ONLY! Love being outside and learning from nature? This week is all about discovering what it means to be a steward of the outdoors. Campers will sharpen their outdoor survival and safety skills, practice scientific observation and identification, and explore the role of a park ranger or naturalist.

Camp Schedule
8:00am – 9:00am : Drop-off
9:00am – 2:30pm : Summer Camp Activities
2:30pm – 3:30pm : Pick-up
3:30pm – 4:30pm : After Care (at an additional cost)

Priority Registration

With fewer weeks of summer camp, we know it will be harder than ever to get your camper signed up for the camp week you want. Because of this, we are offering a tiered priority registration system based on your level of monthly giving through the FrOG program. Through this, you can receive priority Camp registration up to two weeks early with your membership. You must become a FrOG by January 9th, 2026 to receive priority registration.

We also have a FrOG points program that qualifies for priority registration. This program requires no financial commitments but rather volunteering opportunities! Through membership, donations, and volunteering, this program provides a tangible way for supporters to contribute to the health of the South Platte River and the educational outreach SPREE provides to the community. For questions on submitting your points for 2026 registration, email camp@greenwayfoundation.org.

SPREE’s Leaders in Training (LIT) Program

If your camper is in 6th – 9th grade, they may be eligible for our LIT Program, where middle schoolers learn valuable leadership skills at camp. The LIT program is for former campers who have aged out of our camp program, but want to stay involved. We take their previous experience and current interest in the environment and give them leadership opportunities in our camp programs. Applications are due January 12th, 2026 for new and returning LITs for 2026 SPREE Camps.
*The application requires a letter of recommendation, but no interview.  Check out the program here.

Scholarship Applications

At The Greenway Foundation, we believe the river is for everyone and don’t want cost to be a barrier to attending our SPREE programs. We encourage families who need some help to apply for a scholarship. Scholarship applications for 2026 SPREE Camps are open. Visit our website to apply.
