The Greenway Leadership Corps’ Frozen Adventure at Echo Lake

This past Sunday, the Greenway Leadership Corps (GLC) hosted yet another fantastic event, proving once again that outdoor fun and learning go hand in hand. Despite a few last-minute changes to the itinerary, the day was packed with memorable moments, laughter, and exploration.

The original plan changed, but the group didn’t let the fun and excitement stop with that. Participants ventured out for a scenic hike around (and even on) the stunning frozen Echo Lake. The shimmering ice and snow-covered landscape provided the perfect winter playground. While exploring the area, the group learned fascinating tidbits about the local wildlife that call Echo Lake home during the winter months. The historic lodge at the park also piqued everyone’s curiosity—especially when rumors of its possible haunting were mentioned. Whether ghost stories are true or not, the lodge certainly added a touch of mystery to the adventure.

Of course, no winter outing would be complete without some playful antics on the ice. Participants spun each other around, raced across the frozen surface, and attempted figure skating moves in their tennis shoes. Some even perfected their best penguin slides.

After hours of fun, everyone gathered around a cozy fire to warm up and enjoy some well-earned snacks. The crackling flames and camaraderie made for the perfect ending to a day filled with adventure and connection. The GLC’s event at Echo Lake was a resounding success, showcasing the joy of embracing winter’s beauty and the importance of community and leadership. As participants headed home, they carried with them not just memories of a great day but also a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Stay tuned for more exciting events from the Greenway Leadership Corps—there’s always another adventure just around the corner!
