There was no better way to spend such a beautiful day than at a farm right here in Denver! At the Urban Farm, we got a break from the smells and sounds of the city and replaced them with those of the farm. For a couple hours, we were able to get our hands in the dirt and hang out with goats, sheep, chickens, bunnies, horses, and cows! We also learned about some of the incredible work that the Urban Farm does: feeding their community, supporting kids doing 4H, and bringing animals to meet students.

This trip was full of smiles. How could it not be when we were seeing chickens with crazy hairdos, petting very soft sheep, meeting a tiny horse named Bug, and feeding the largest cow ever?!
We also got to do a bit of farm work ourselves. We weeded around some onions and spread hay over them to keep moisture in the ground. In the process, we meet some of the tiniest farm workers: several spiders and roly-polies!

A huge thank you to the Urban Farm for giving us this incredible opportunity! It was so great to work with an organization that values connecting nature and community. We are certainly going to be back! As with all GLC events, this event was free and open to all high school students. Keep an eye out every month for more fun, unique experiences like this!
