On April 17th, The Greenway Foundation organized a Young Professionals Trash Pick Up and Happy Hour at Cuernavaca Park. Young Professionals is a group that meets several times throughout the year, where young adults in the workforce can come volunteer, make new friends, share interests, and help clean up parks and rivers in the process!
With the assistance of the amazing 33 volunteers we had on the 17th, we managed to pick up a whopping 135.78 pounds of trash, which equates to 442 gallons! Volunteers were eager to help out as much as they could. Not only did they pick up trash all around the park but also ventured down towards the river bank and some even used nets to help retrieve trash that was in the South Platte River.
After our hour-long trash pick up, we walked over to our Greenway office for a quick happy hour where we continued our conversations over drinks and snacks. All in all, the young professionals meetup was a great way to kickoff the Earth Day season and meet some cool individuals in the process!
Thank you so much to everyone that came. We cannot wait for the next one!
