Big Ideas for the South Platte
Transforming our local waterway takes a village – and a lot of creative problem-solving. Over the years, The Greenway Foundation has teamed up with students, startups, and environmental specialists to turn ambitious concepts into real-world impact along the river. From initial prototypes to field-tested solutions, we iterate, test, and advocate to improve water quality, boost ecosystem health, and protect the South Platte for everyone who relies on it.

Clean Water Challenge
For many years, The Greenway Foundation hosted an annual, year-long competition for Colorado university students designed to address pollution in the South Platte River. This real-world competition has led to real change for our waterways.
Nautilus
Nautilus was an exciting project for Colorado’s waterways that was pioneered at Greenway’s Clean Water Challenge. By passively collecting trash, it has the potential to make a substantial difference in water quality and riparian environment.
Gutter Bins
Storm drains quickly and efficiently move water away from sidewalks and streets and to our waterways. Unfortunately, any trash or debris on the ground can get washed down a storm drain and end up in our rivers and creeks. The Greenway Foundation supports solutions to help solve this problem.
