Norris Sun 

Norris co-founded the No Name Youth Ambassadors (NNYA), which, along with the Five Point Youth Ambassadors, was a revolutionary take on community outreach and youth advocacy. Following the success of these teams, Norris is working with The Greenway Foundation to redefine community outreach by establishing the GLO Ambassadors Program. Norris is currently a consultant for projects on the South Platte River and the High Line Canal. As a sophomore in high school, Norris devotes much of his time to academic excellence while also prioritizing his health. He loves weightlifting, practicing martial arts, and playing intramural sports. In his own time, Norris loves to explore the business world, learning various aspects of investment and project management.

When I began this journey in 7th grade, I didn’t understand the magnitude of the opportunity presented or the importance of our work. But like how we developed our version of youth advocacy and community outreach, I developed an understanding of my aspirations for the future. What started as a fun project with friends became a lifelong goal; to positively impact the world.

Kris Sun 

Kris, along with his brother, co-founded the No Name Youth Ambassadors (NNYA), the framework group for the GLO Ambassadors Program. After completion of the NNYA’s Unnamed Creek Restoration Project and the following partnership with The Greenway Foundation, Kris has now moved on to consulting on future projects, including the (Adams County Project) and the (Insert Project). Colorado-born, Kris enjoys volunteering for the local community and channels it through his passions, such as instructing students in martial arts, teaching kids the violin, and working in Denver hospitals. While he is now moving abroad for college, Kris still plans to continue his work in promoting youth advocacy.

When I was first approached with the concept of having youth representation in public works, I felt two emotions: graciousness and determination. I was grateful; such an opportunity meant that I could bring about real change for the community I care about. And I felt determined; we needed to show what youth can do when given a chance. I believe we’ve definitely done that!

Creative Design Director, Consultant

Janie Shin 

Janie Shin was one of the founding members of the No Name Youth Ambassadors. The project helped inspire her passion for technology and design as she created the logo and website for the team. Currently, she is working as a consultant for the (new group name) and working on The Greenway Foundation’s official website. Janie will be continuing her journey at Vanderbilt University to major in computer science. She plans on combining her design and coding knowledge to help promote youth advocacy. In her free time, she enjoys making traditional/digital art, reading, and playing video games!

People living in big cities like New York and Chicago never fail to tell you what neighborhood they live in. But in Aurora, Colorado didn’t have that. I had the opportunity to change this. The No Name Youth Ambassadors strengthened our community. I brought real change to the neighborhood I call home. Being a Youth Ambassador taught me how to advocate for what I believe in. Young voices can bring creativity, perspectives, and unique experiences that can’t be replicated in another way.

Gibson Roberts-Brysh

Gibson first embarked on his adventure as a founding member of the No Name Youth Ambassadors (NNYA), and with the success brought forth by the work done on the Unnamed Creek Restoration Project, Gibson is now working to expand his horizons to other similar projects with the help of The Greenway Foundation. Gibson is now working to establish the GLO Ambassadors Program and is a consultant for the (Adams County Project) and (Other Projects). Gibson, who is an incoming freshman to Colorado State University, enjoys playing Soccer and Volleyball, and in his free time loves to work on his passion of engineering. 

This group, these projects, have been inspiring. I had no idea what an incredibly huge opportunity this journey would be when I first started out with Kris and Norris, but as I grew into it, I began to realize how much of an impact I could truly make. With that being said, I finally have an outlet to use my skills to help the community around me in a way that is truly meaningful. 

Outreach Director, Consultant

Sarah Rich

Sarah was a founding member of the No Name Youth Ambassadors (NNYA). During the Unnamed Creek Restoration Project, they led efforts in building a community outreach formula based on unorthodoxy and humanity. They also had the opportunity to explore their passions for community organization and event planning as a part of this endeavor. Currently, they are working as a consultant and advisor for (new group name) and consulting on (other projects). Sarah will be continuing her education at the University of Northern Colorado to major in music education, but she intends on using this background in education to influence how they approach community education in the future. In her free time, they enjoy being in nature, experimenting in historical fashion, and pursuing a passion in music. 

Community service has always been an essential part of my life. I have been lucky enough to blossom in an environment that encouraged youth to take initiative and be active in their communities. Finding new alleyways for youth voices to continue to be heard and developing pathways for power to be given to youth innovations though these opportunities is a passion that being an ambassador helped support. When youth have the possibility to make a difference, they often succeed in ways that are unorthodox and surprising, prompting unexpected, exciting, and new change for all. 

Media Productions Director, Consultant

Preston Cho

Preston officially began his ambassador journey when he joined the No Name Youth Ambassadors team in 2021. While juggling academics and extracurriculars, NNYA soon became an outlet for him to explore advocacy and professional work in a new and fresh environment. It also allowed him to exercise his creative passions, where he primarily focused on projects including videography, design, and writing. Upon the completion of NNYA’s Unnamed Creek Restoration Project, Preston now works in partnership with The Greenway Foundation on consulting work for future projects, such as the Adams County, Green Valley Ranch, and North Aurora projects. 

Outside of consulting work, Preston enjoys finding enriching stories and experiences, whether it be catching up on film and literature, volunteering at hospitals, practicing piano, or doing a little photography. But in each pastime, he finds that above all, finding one’s voice is a crucial part of navigating the world around us, both personal and professional. He will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle but will continue his consulting work to help others find that voice.

I think that the world around us is crazy and difficult to navigate sometimes, especially as we grow up. Many times, it feels as though we, as youth, have no voice on the issues we care about. So, when I was presented with the opportunity to become a “Youth Ambassador”, I didn’t even fully understand just how powerful those two words could become. Because apart from being an “ambassador”, it enabled me to finally voice my opinions and ideas and have them heard. It made me realize how unorthodox, creative, and driven the youth can be when given the right outlets and a little push.

Ev Chen

Ev was a part of the extraordinary No Name Creek Restoration Project. In hopes to make a change in her community, Ev took the opportunity to be a part of the NNYA team that allowed her to explore different types of community outreach, social media techniques, and overall, a field of work that gave her a chance to express new ideas. Her role in the NNYA project empowered her to exercise interest in social media marketing and gave her a chance to experiment with professionals and acquire skills to be used for other future projects. Her dream is to use her skills that she gained to study Business Real Estate and Marketing at CU Boulder. Outside Ev’s community work, she enjoys working at her other jobs, playing video games, and going out with friends. She hopes with her newly acquired skills and opportunities she can take advantage to reach her goals in the future.

When people hear youth being attached with the word leader the connotation that goes along with it is, young minds can’t comprehend sophisticated topics. Young adults find it difficult to hear their voice, even though they have creative, active, and valid opinions worth listening to. In the many leadership roles, I’ve been fortunate to be in, I always still felt held back to my full potential of having my voice be heard. Becoming a “Youth Ambassador” gave me that chance to finally let my voice have power behind it and allowed my ideas to come to life. Being a youth ambassador is so significant for young minds to let their voices be heard and make a change. 

Brandon Choi

Brandon Choi joined the No Name Youth Ambassadors (NNYA) in 2021, with the goal of helping in the Unnamed Creek Restoration Project. Brandon’s main role in the NNYA was to communicate with the affected nearby schools of the project, both in coordinating events and keeping the school community involved. Being a part of the No Name Youth Ambassadors has shown Brandon how important it is to be a responsible and active member of your community. Starting in the Fall of 2023, Brandon will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Outside of the Unnamed Creek Restoration Project, Brandon plays the guitar and enjoys playing video games.

I had always wanted to make an impact on my community and the people around me. Working with other people my age showed me the importance of being able to work with others and caring for your community’s needs. Being a Youth Ambassador has helped me see the responsibilities of being on a team, and learning early on how a team can work towards a larger goal. I’m grateful for the opportunity Norris and Kris Sun gave me to leave a positive impact on my community.

Susan Brown

Supporting both the FPYA and NNYA to find a platform to advocate for themselves and their community is my primary objective when working with the GLO program. Encouraging these youth and future Ambassadors to build coalitions of voices and make the kind of connections that drive change and impact in their own communities as well as in their own lives. I have so many stories of how working with these young people has changed lives as they grow and develop into adults and love sharing them with anyone who wants to embrace the joy of watching this transformation.

Jordan Withers

Jordan Withers is a very talented artist with great desires in community building and enrichment. His strong commitment to building a supportive community in every environment he is in allows others around him to have a place where they can feel safe. For many years he has been drawing as a hobby and has recently devoted most of his time to graphic design-based work. Most recently he has worked with groups at his school to create brilliant logos and with Poonams’s By Design to create T-Shirt mock-up designs. His creative mind inspires beautiful works and can make a community feel connected through identity.

I am a Graphic Designer who aspires to push group branding further in order to gather more youth advocates and leaders. Through these future leaders we are able to continue the work we do throughout the future. I aspire to create unique branding for this group and further its prosperity.

Consultant

Bhavana Chauhan

Bhavana Chauhan has participated in multiple community volunteer events in the Denver Metro Area. Through Project CURE and Project Helping, she has experienced many different perspectives and engaged in various projects. Additionally, her internship with Seaside Sustainability helped her develop skills in grant and article writing that she was able to apply to issues regarding marine ecosystems. Bhavana will be attending CU Boulder for Integrated Design Engineering with a focus in Environmental Engineering in Fall 2023. Much of Bhavana’s community engagement stems directly from her passions. Raised in Colorado, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and climbing which influenced her to get involved in many projects concerning the environment. In her free time, she also likes reading, and practicing martial arts.

At a young age, I have always aspired to make a lasting change in the community. Through community service projects, I have been able to take initiative and help others around me. As a community outreach consultant, I aim to create pathways by which youth voices can be heard and inspire other youth to get involved in their communities as well. I am grateful for this new opportunity to make a positive impact in my area and to show others how resourceful youth minds can be if given the chance.

Willow Brown

Willow recently graduated from Cherokee Trail High School and is now heading to Colorado Springs where she will attend UCCS. Willow learned about this program through a good friend who she is excited to get to work beside in social media. Her role with GLO is to spread the project and market via social media. She is very passionate about the environment and loves being able to use it as a source of connection within communities. Willow really enjoys being outdoors whether it is hiking, swimming, camping, or even just a short walk. She is excited to gain new skills to take into life with her. 

Being part of the youth population in a large community I understand how important it is for our opinions to be heard and taken into consideration. As someone who wants to make an impact, I often feel my voice isn’t heard because of my age. I feel like I need to put in extra effort just for my opinions to be considered. The youth are the future of communities everywhere so taking their values, voices, and opinions into account matters when it comes to improvement and renovations of the community.
