Elementary
Families, teachers, and most of all—kids!—everyone loves the hands-on learning adventure that The Greenway Foundation’s SPREE program provides. Kids come home excited about nature and brimming with new knowledge. Tired, happy, and eager for more.
Nurturing a Lifelong Love of Nature
Through school day field trips, summer camps, school break camps, and more, Greenway provides opportunities for all children to experience nature in the city and engage with the wonder of the South Platte River. Kids don’t have to go to the mountains to get jazzed about a river or see some wildlife. SPREE brings students to the river right here in our city to learn, have fun, and explore!
Field Trips
SPREE Field Trips
Pan for real gold, pilot a raft, and meet animals all along South Platte River. These are educational excursions that students and teachers love with lessons that last a lifetime.
I had the privilege of taking my group of first graders to Commons Park with SPREE. The students participated in 5 different visits and each visit had a different focus which tied into their Animal Adaptation unit. Students were engaged and got so much out of each visit! The staff was incredibly intentional in their approach and made these visits so hands on and enjoyable. Students loved being able to deepen their learning through the use of the South Platte and all Denver’s parks have to offer. Hearing students applying what they learned in SPREE to their learning back at school was incredible and all thanks to their remarkable staff. The staff is passionate about providing students with meaningful learning experiences!
