SPREE Keeps the Fun Flowing

Greenway’s South Platte River Environmental Education (SPREE) brings family fun to the river. Kids who attend a SPREE Field Trip or SPREE Camp can’t wait to tell their families all about the river adventures they had. Our family events get everyone involved, learning, and maybe even a little muddy. Take your family upon, over, and along the river with The Greenway Foundation and have an experience you will all remember.

Family Stewardship Events

If you love parks, love the river. People of all ages can make a difference and help ensure we take care of the South Platte River. That’s what being a good steward means. SPREE hosts family-friendly volunteer events at least twice a year to pick up trash in and along the river. Our expert educators make it a fun and rewarding time for everyone. Afterwards, we’ll come together for crafts and activities. Adults must attend with children under 12.

Check out our Events listings for the next Family Stewardship Day. Don’t see one upcoming? Subscribe to our newsletter to receive notifications about Stewardship opportunities and other events.

A proud child displays their fishing skill at Family Fishing Day.

Family Fishing Day

The Greenway Foundation is proud to partner with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to host a free Family Fishing Day every fall. This program provides an exciting day of fishing at Overland Pond Park along the South Platte River. Kids learn about fishing etiquette, safety, and techniques as well as the importance of fish in our urban waterways.

This event is always free. However, advanced registration is required and space is limited.

Check out our Events listings for the next Family Fishing Day. If you missed out this year, don’t worry. You can subscribe to our newsletter to receive notifications so you can sign up next time.

A child begins constructing a bird house at Art on The River

Art on the River

Art on the River is a chance for families to explore the different ways art can be inspired by nature. Each spring, The Greenway Foundation connects children and families with artists to create vibrant art along the South Platte River. We’ve also created materials and activities for families to do on their own.

This event is free and all families are welcome.  We have limited space, so prior registration is required.

Check out our Events listings for the next Art on the River event. If there isn’t one listed, please subscribe to our newsletter to receive notifications about Art on the River and other engaging family events.
