Last year alone, SPREE educators guided nearly 6,000 learners on environmental education field trips along the most urban stretches of the South Platte River and taught over 350 children at our summer camp.
There’s no better way to learn than hands-in
Let’s roll up our sleeves—and our pant legs—and jump in. There’s no better way to learn than hands-in. For over four decades, Greenway has been helping kids engage with the river through memorable experiences that go beyond education to create a lifetime connection. Thanks to SPREE—the South Platte River Environmental Education program—tens of thousands of kids have developed a positive relationship with the river.
From school excursions, day camps, weekend events, internships, and summer employment, SPREE welcomes kids from throughout the community, focusing on safe, accessible, and welcoming spaces, introducing the river to the next generation of stewards.
The Greenway Foundation prioritizes education. SPREE has always been committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The river is for everyone!
