Your Actions Make a Difference
Taking care of the watershed that takes care of us is not only rewarding, it’s necessary to our future. There are so many ways to be good stewards. Whether you donate money, volunteer time, share your knowledge, or all of the above—the good news is that every effort counts.
Together our actions add up to something incredible. The results are easy to see. And enjoy!
Our Ongoing Stewardship Projects
Clean Water Challenge
The Greenway Foundation hosts an annual, year-long competition for Colorado university students designed to address pollution in the South Platte River. This real-world competition has led to real change for our waterways.
Nautilus
Nautilus is an exciting project for Colorado’s waterways that was pioneered at Greenway’s Clean Water Challenge. By passively collecting trash, it has the potential to make a substantial difference in water quality and riparian environment. TGF is working with an engineer team to create the next iteration of Nautilus. It will be installed in the Cherry Creek between Blake Street and Market Street.
Gutter Bins
Storm drains quickly and efficiently move water away from sidewalks and streets and to our waterways. Unfortunately, any trash or debris on the ground can get washed down a storm drain and end up in our rivers and creeks. The Greenway Foundation supports solutions to help solve this problem.
Stewardship Brings Everyone to the River
Successful partnerships are about leveraging each other's strengths to reach a shared vision. A great visionary established both TGF and MHFD, Joe Shoemaker, to complement each other in making our communities safer and stronger through engaging our waterways. TGF brings passion, awareness, and stakeholders to the table while MHFD works directly with local governments on management and implementation. Together we are able to accomplish holistic solutions that revitalize rivers and reconnect communities to protect people, property, and our environment.
