Bilingual Spanish Urban Environmental Educator– apply now!
Join The Greenway Foundation’s SPREE (South Platte River Environmental Education) program as an Environmental Educator! You’ll teach outdoor environmental education for preschool-5th grade students, teach at summer camps, and support community events and youth programs. This is a full-time, in-person position with variable hours based on program bookings. Most programs run weekdays, with occasional evenings and weekends required. All programs take place outdoors in Denver public parks or at local schools. Some programs involve working with monolingual Spanish-speaking children/families. You will be expected to communicate fluently in Spanish as needed. Additional responsibilities include supporting other programs, including but not limited to: excursions, events, camp, youth programs, volunteer opportunities, marketing, and fundraising.

eeCorps: Youth Engagement Specialist

The Youth Engagement Specialist will act as an assistant environmental educator on South Platte River Environmental Education (SPREE) Field Trips and at SPREE summer camp. They will also help TGF with community outreach in target neighborhoods with high minority and low-income populations to better serve these communities through its programming as well as act as a youth mentor on SPREE programs serving high school students from these neighborhoods. The position is a 1700 minimum hour term.
During their term, members receive a living allowance and ample opportunities for professional development and networking within the EE community and earn an education award upon successful completion of their service.

Seasonal Environmental Educators

This six-month position with The Greenway Foundation’s SPREE program offers a wide range of experiences in environmental education. From June-August, you will work as a summer camp teacher at Johnson Habitat Park. Responsibilities include leading campers through daily activities, crafts and games about the environment, as well as ensuring the health and safety of the campers at all times. In addition, camp teachers will work with middle and high-school-aged educators-in-training. In the fall, the position involves working with a team of educators to lead preschool-5th grade students on environmental education field trips. Field trips have grade-specific curriculum, and take place at multiple park locations along the South Platte River. You will also assist with SPREE educational events. All programs take place outdoors in Denver public parks or at local schools.

Greenway River Ranger School Internship

The Greenway River Ranger internship program is offered at select schools in Denver. Students attend training in environmental education theory and practice, teach activities to elementary students on SPREE field trips, and gain a deeper understanding of the environment around them. This position is designed to introduce students to a range of possibilities in the environmental field and will offer experience needed to apply for a position with SPREE’s paid summer program.
Greenway River Ranger Summer Program (High School & College Positions)

The Greenway River Ranger position is a paid, full time, 11 week job at our environmental education summer camp. Designed for high school or college aged students over the age of 16, the summer-long program consists of over 200 hours teaching elementary students at SPREE Summer Camp. River Rangers additionally complete service projects and paid professional development that builds the knowledge and skills needed to pursue entry-level jobs within the environmental field.
