Last week the Greenway Foundation’s River Ranger youth internship program officially got underway! Our crew of high school River Rangers met for their first day of their internship at Overland Pond Park, where they will be leading the 5th grade SPREE field trip over the course of four days this semester. Rangers will be teaching groups of fifteen 5th grade students about water testing, beaver adaptations, pollution in the city, and river rafting, as well as getting in the pond to catch creatures!
The Greenway River Ranger program is designed for high school students to explore possibilities in the environmental field through training, hands-on teaching experience, and outdoor adventure. Students will develop leadership, strong communication, and critical thinking skills that will serve as powerful tools for their future.
