2022 RECAP- The Greenway Leadership Corps (GLC)

2022 was a year full of adventure for the Greenway Leadership Corps! The winter was packed with outdoor sports including, ice skating in downtown Denver, snowboarding lessons at Ruby Hill with Denver Parks & Rec, and snowshoeing at Echo Lake! The confidence in our youth was inspiring, and made us wonder if winter is the best season in Colorado..

But winter is not the only time of year when GLC has fun. Our yearly summer events also provide adventure that we never get sick of. In June, GLC goes on our annual whitewater rafting trip, where our high schoolers get to camp under the stars before taking on the river at Browns Canyon. However, the ultimate sense of confidence in our youth often comes from our annual July trail building trip with The Nature Conservancy. This trip allows teens to find their inner and outer strength, as they help conserve the beautiful nature of Phantom Canyon Nature Preserve.

You might think nothing can follow that, but let us tell you about our Youth Exploring Stewardship (YES) Conference! In partnership with fellow environmental nonprofits, the YES Conference is an annual opportunity in October for students to make an impact on land that was impacted by wildfires. This brings a large amount of achievement in teens, and allows them to connect with nature, and other local environmental professionals and teens. These are only some of the awesome events we had in 2022, so if you are interested in knowing our 2023 events, head to the GLC page to check out our events calendar!
