Last winter, The Greenway Foundation helped get a Clear Intentions glass recycling station installed at Johnson Habitat Park. Since then, 300 pounds of glass have been collected there and saved from ending up in a landfill!
Less than 17% of the glass collected in the purple Denver recycling bins actually gets recycled. The rest is used as a liner for landfills. Clear Intentions works to divert glass from landfills by collecting it at separate stations and processing it into a high-quality crushed glass, which is then used in the manufacturing of new glass bottles, terrazzo, and fiberglass insulation. The next time you have some glass to recycle, bring it down to Johnson Habitat Park or find another Clear Intentions collection site near you
