Yesterday we had a very snowy day training at Overland Pond Park for our new teachers and 10 high school River Rangers!
The Greenway River Ranger Internship Program is designed for high school students to explore possibilities in the environmental field through training, hands-on teaching experience and outdoor adventure. Students will develop leadership, strong communication, and critical thinking skills that will serve as powerful tools for their future.
There is an internship portion of the program and a summer employment portion of the River Ranger program that Ranger interns can apply for. This spring, the 10 high school students in the internship portion of the Ranger program will be getting trained in environmental education & teaching 5th grade classes at our Overland Pond Park excursion program. Also at the training day were our two new seasonal staff members who joined the Greenway team this week. We recently hired Helen Katich to our new Seasonal Environmental Educator & Youth Mentor position and Kate Ronan to our new Seasonal Environmental Educator & Camp Leader position, and we’re happy to have them on the team!
