Last week a group of high school students from The Greenway Foundation’s Greenway Leadership Corps (GLC) program met down at the Ruby Hill Rail Yard in Denver for a fun day of volunteering, skiing and snowboarding right here in Denver! First established in 2007 in collaboration with Winter Park, Ruby Hill Rail Yard was the country’s first free urban terrain park based in a city. The experimental program instantly became a nationwide model for numerous city & ski resort collaborations, and has since attracted thousands of youth and adults. GLC students completed an hour of volunteer park maintenance work at Ruby Hill, and then had a chance to rent free gear and experience the rail yard for themselves!
