The Greenway Leadership Corps (GLC) had a fantastic time at the Ruby Hill terrain park. Six high school students came out to try their hand at snowboarding, and for most students it was their very first time. We started off slow, walking down half of the hill to get our bearings on a snowboard, and then worked our way up to going down the entire hill. We even had some help from volunteers who taught our students how to shift weight on the board, slow down in a controlled manner, and even link turns! And by the end of the day, a couple students were even trying some of the smaller jumps at the park!
It was a gorgeous day, everyone had a great time, and by the end students were asking how they could snowboard again soon!

After snowboarding, we heard from a Metro State student who is studying hydrology and water resources. He explained his academic path and his interest in water science while we munched on snacks to refuel after snowboarding. Then we all walked through the park to pick up trash and make our park cleaner and safer for patrons.
This event was only made possible because of the generous support of Christy Sports, who donated the snowboards that students rented for the day. We are so very thankful for their assistance and generosity!
