Though few in number we had a mighty good time at SPREE Spring Break Camp this spring. While we dug deep into the “Cycles That Surround Us,” we spent time exploring the river to see its important role in the water cycle, investigating insect and reptile life cycles, and uncovering the long history of rocks.
On Thursday we learned about the importance of water in our everyday lives and the journey it takes from the mountains to our faucets. Through hands-on activities and exploration, we saw how river erosion can create new landscapes and gained a deeper appreciation for all that water can provide for us.
Friday brought a new adventure as our campers delved into the fascinating world of life cycles. From tiny insects to towering trees, they learned about the stages of growth and transformation that occur in all living creatures. And spent time making observations about the similarities between sprouting chia seeds and frog eggs!
On Monday, our campers became geologists for the day as they explored the rugged terrain of the rock cycle. We rocked out to rockity rock rock rock, found rock best friends, and designed our own rock sculptures along the bank of the South Platte River.
