Welcome to Montana City! This past weekend, over 90 people attended Pioneering on the Platte, an event that celebrates the history of our city, Denver. There could be no better place for this event than Grant Frontier Park where in 1858, the very first chartered town in what is now Denver was born. Attendees created costumes to look the part of pioneers, learned about how chores like laundry could be done without electricity, packed a wagon and attempted to survive a journey from New York City to Colorado, and some lucky pioneers struck it rich in the South Platte River as they learned the proper steps of gold panning!
History was brought to life thanks to Four Mile Historic Center bringing two artifact trunks! These trunks contained real artifacts to learn about how Native American tribes survived and lived in Denver well before anyone else, and the pioneers that settled the area in 1858.
This fun event could not be possible without our great sponsors. Thank you to Publication Printers and Xcel Energy for sponsoring this event! They sponsored all of our wonderful family events in 2017!
