2024-2025 SPREE Field Trips are FULL for DPS
All school dates with available DPS busses available are now full. If you are a non-DPS school, have a different school calendar, or have alternative transportation options than DPS busses, we do have a few excursion dates left!
If you are a DPS school already signed up for a SPREE excursion and need to reschedule your trip date, please email excursions@greenwayfoundation.org
Registration Information
By registering, you acknowledge that you have read the description for the SPREE Field Trip you are signing up for and understand what it involves. There will be a charge for your SPREE Field Trip (invoiced ahead of your trip date), even though it will not be shown in the registration process.
Please make sure you specify your (1) a trip date, (2) grade/park, and (3) trip size! You *MUST* specify all 3 of these to successfully book your trip. To do this in RegPack, you must first select the (1) date of your trip. The next page will allow you to select the (2) grade/park and the (3) trip size. If you want to select a different date, you must de-select your date and then choose your new dates.
To estimate the cost of your field trip, keep in mind:
- The standard pricing for a SPREE Excursion is a flat fee for a Small or a Large trip.
- SPREE Schools pay a discounted rate.
- Scholarships are available for schools meeting specific criteria.
- The actual cost for making SPREE Field Trips possible is approximately $44/student. The Greenway Foundation actively pursues funding through grants, gifts, and donations (both corporate and individual) to make SPREE programs possible.

- You can sign up for a large or small trip.
- Small Trips are up to 30 students.
- Large trips are for 31-60 students.
RegPack: I don’t see the date I wanted to book a trip?
If you do not see the date you selected, that means another class has booked that date and it is no longer available. If you have any questions, please reach out to excursions@greenwayfoundation.org
Can you accommodate trips with Spanish instruction?
Yes, we can! We can only teach up to 40 students in Spanish per day based on current staff limitations.
What happens after I book a SPREE Field Trip?
First, you will receive an automatic confirmation email from RegPack. If you don’t receive this email, that means your registration did not go through. Make sure your full profile is complete, including selecting your grade/park, trip size, excursion contact information, number of students, and any special considerations for your class.
3 weeks before your trip, you will receive an email from excursions@greenwayfoundation.org that gives an overview of the trip.
1 week before your trip, you will receive a more detailed trip overview email from excursions@greenwayfoundation.org, that includes what you should bring, and where the bus will go and where chaperones can park, and trip timing is confirmed.
All of this information is always available on our website, on the web page specific to the field trip.
Sometime in between booking your trip and the date of your trip, you will receive an invoice online. This invoice must be paid by the trip date.
RegPack: I want to book 2 trips on the same date. How do I do that?
We cannot accommodate 2 trips per day. We only have capacity for 1 trip per day.
What if I have ESL students or students whose primary language is not English?
On SPREE Field Trips, we can only guarantee instruction in English. We will do our best to accommodate Spanish classes, but are limited based on scheduling, and cannot guarantee Spanish instruction on any trip. If you are requesting instruction in Spanish, we must know ahead of time to schedule our staff accordingly. We are only able to accommodate up to 40 Spanish-speaking students per trip (the other 20 of a “large” trip may be English speaking). Additionally, our lessons use sheltered language instruction, to support any students who are English Language Learners.
Where do I tell my bus driver to go?
You will receive an email a few weeks before your trip with a detailed map, including the bus drop off and pick up locations. There is also information for each trip on our website, on the specific trip’s webpage.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes! We offer need-based scholarships for schools based on their percentage of students who receive free or reduced lunch. Please fill out our scholarship request form here to start this process. After you fill out the form, someone from the SPREE team will reach out to you.
How much will my trip cost?
SPREE Field Trips are priced as a flat rate, depending on the size of the trip. This system has been implemented to better represent our costs, as we need to maintain a certain teacher-to-student ratio. We are a nonprofit and are able to provide these trips at the current prices because of grants we receive. The Greenway Foundation has limited additional funding available that reduces the field trip fee for specific schools or school districts. These funds are not guaranteed from year to year. Please fill out the application if you are interested in a scholarship for your SPREE field trip. We do not want cost to be a barrier to attending the trip and will work with you to make your SPREE excursion possible.

When do I pay? How do I pay?
Payment is due before your trip. You will be emailed an invoice based on the size of the trip you sign up for (Large or Small). You will be able to pay the invoice online with a credit card, send a check to our office at 1820 Platte St, Denver, CO 80202, or bring cash on the day of the field trip.
When will SPREE cancel a field trip?
Student safety is our highest priority. At the same time, it is SPREE’s policy to not cancel field trips due to weather such as rain, snow, heat, or cold. The classroom teachers know what their students can handle best. Exceptions can be made for extreme weather. If there is active lightning in the area, a Flood Warning or a Flash Flood Watch, or other extreme weather events, SPREE will advise the trip to be cancelled. SPREE Excursion Leads carefully monitor the weather during the excursion, and will communicate closely with the teachers if extreme weather comes during the day.
Can I get a refund?
If you cancel your field trip 14 days before your excursion, we can offer a refund. Otherwise, we are unable to do so, as we won’t be able to find a new school to fill your spot. If you can no longer make your registered trip date work, please reach out to excursions@greenwayfoundation.org as soon as you can, and we can try to reschedule your trip to a later date if our schedule allows.
How many chaperones should I bring? What do chaperones cost?
Chaperones are free!
We recommend: 1 adult chaperone per 5 students on ECE, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade trips.
1 adult chaperone per 10 students on 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade trips.
How do I sign up for the email list for when field trip registration opens in the fall?
Email excursions@greenwayfoundation.org
