This year’s Coors Light South Platte RiverFest was a big, big success! Approximately 20,000 people came out over Saturday June 27th and Sunday June 28th to celebrate The South Platte River and it’s community! Nearly 2,000 people participated in our on-site activities such as stand up paddleboard demos and a rock climbing wall hosted by Avid 4 Adventure. A big thank you to Confluence Kayaks for organizing the Pro Exhibition Races and SUP Joust! For the young ones, Jump Bunch created a special kids’ zone with activities and an obstacle course.

Along with the activities, we also had 8 live bands and 2 DJs during the two days of the festival. All of these musical acts provided over 16 hours of music for festival attendees! Also throughout the course of the weekend 10 artists created pieces of artwork during the festival– the winner was Jamie Gastelle!

The Greenway Foundation is proud to offer an primer festival experience, while still holding true to our mission of enhancing The South Platte River and the green spaces in Denver. We encourage use of public transportation and offered a bike valet. In fact, those that rode their bike to the festival received a free beverage! At this year’s South Platte RiverFest, we had local water, beer, and food providers. All waste stations had trash, recycling, and compost options. Xcel Energy, a vendor at the event, also gave away 24,00 CLF lightbulbs to festival attendees!
We had photo booth where attendees could vote for how the money raised at the festival should be spent. “Building River Parks and Trails” received the most photo and hashtag votes.
Originateve, a partnering non-profit, helped reduce waste generated at the festival by using over 2,000 aluminum cans to create a fish sculpture. |
