Slugs & Bugs
On this beautiful fall Friday we all started out by sharing our names, favorite and least favorite bugs, and learning the differences between bugs and other insects. Next we took things outside to play some fun games all about bugs and how they see and feel the world. Then, after lunch, we took advantage of the warm afternoon sun to explore in the river and see how many insect and invertebrate critters we could find!
Creepy Crawlies
With a bit of a chill in the air for this October School Break Camp we leaned into the spooky mood and learned all about the creepy crawlies that live in and around the South Platte River. We started by learning about which animals we thought were the scariest, stinkiest, and grossest, then dug a little deeper into worms and leeches. Even though we may think of these animals as scary or gross, learning all about them helped us to appreciate how they can add to any ecosystem they are a part of. In the afternoon we went outside to play like some silly bugs and then ventured down to the river to catch a record number of crawdads and leeches!
