Right before Easter Sunday, TGF was lucky to be invited to a community cook out in the Cole Neighborhood outside of St. Charles Rec Center. Excited, screaming kiddos got their faces painted, played yard games and were wowed by DPR’s mobile climbing wall.
At one of our tables we crafted cute little bug jars out of colored paper and made cards with pipe-cleaner flowers. At the other, families had the chance to learn about some local Colorado wildlife, touch our treasured beaver pelt and play a few rounds of everybody’s favorite education game, “Whose Scat is That?!”
Nearly 300 neighbors enjoyed the free community event, which also included a local student DJ, DPR’s climbing wall, and hot dogs cooked by GRASP & Groundwork Denver youth. My Outdoors Colorado partner organizations were joined by other community groups to provide a fun day for families – ending in an Easter egg hunt! All in all, it was a sunny and successful day for learning and connection.
