On October 7th, SPREE, along with partners from Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK), and the Denver Department for Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), hosted a family-focused fishing event at Overland Pond Park in Denver! Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) provided fishing poles for free for every child to take home!
Over 35 kids and adults joined us around the pond. We caught a few fish, several crawdads, and some macroinvertebrates and insects, too! The participants enjoyed perfect weather, learned new fishing skills, explored the pond, and even got in the pond for critter crawl!
We couldn’t have done it without the invaluable support of the Urban Rangers from ELK. They constructed the fishing poles, baited hooks, and taught all of the kids and families casting and catching techniques!
