This past Saturday was a beautifully sunny day in the parks, perfect for a morning of stewardship along the South Platte River. Pacifico Preserves, along with The Greenway Foundation, hosted our annual Spring South Platte Stewardship Day.
Presented by Mile High Flood District and The Nature Conservancy, we began the morning in Centennial Gardens mingling with the volunteers, enjoying some music, learning about our SPREE programs, and eating a delicious breakfast provided by Snooze! Our generous sponsors, Denver Parks and Recreation, Riverfront Park Community Foundation, and Merrick Construction, also joined us for our day of stewardship.
After mingling in the morning, around 200 volunteers spread out to work on projects throughout 3 parks- Centennial Gardens, Confluence Park, and Commons Park. Volunteers participated in a trash pick up along the South Platte River banks. Other projects included pulling weeds in Centennial Gardens, mulching around trees in all the parks, planting flowers and trees along the river, and removing old plant debris in Commons Park.
Thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers for a beautifully successful day of stewardship along the river. Check out all of our photos from the event here!
