There’s nothing quite like Colorado weather to keep you on your toes, but a little rain forecast wasn’t about to stop our community from gathering! We recently hosted our My Outdoor Colorado Cookout, bringing together 26 fantastic community members for an evening dedicated to celebrating nature, neighborhood, and connection. While the heavy rain the day before meant we had to adjust our original plan of heading down to the river, the shift in schedule only made the night more special.
As it turned out, the weather held up beautifully! The rain cleared into a perfectly cool, crisp evening – a welcome break from the summer heat. To top it all off, nature put on an absolute show, painting the sky with vibrant double rainbows right above us – twice!
With the ideal backdrop set, everyone jumped into the festivities. Outdoors, folks gathered to play yard games and catch up, while indoors turned into a creative hub with nature coloring pages and lanyard making. We refueled with plenty of pizza, and no outdoor gathering is complete without dessert. We fired up a portable firepit and capped off the night making gooey, delicious s’mores.
Events like these are at the heart of what My Outdoor Colorado is all about: breaking down barriers to the outdoors and building strong, vibrant community connections right in our backyard.
