Winter Gear Drive

ELIMINATING BARRIERS TO BEING OUTDOORS: 2016 WINTER GEAR DRIVE

Picture

Here at The Greenway Foundation, we are welcoming in the new year and wish you a great 2016! The SPREE Program is gearing up for another season of learning and fun with local students along the South Platte River. SPREE offers many unique opportunities for students to connect with the great outdoors right in the city, including our educational field trips during the school year. These hands-on experiences introduce students to the River through fun and engaging activities that teach science, history, and the importance of the River to the city and its residents.

Even as we enjoy teaching and learning throughout the seasons, we occasionally encounter school groups and students who do not have the proper gear to spend an afternoon outdoors this time of year, or in the late fall. To help eliminate this barrier for students, SPREE is collecting winter gear donations for students attending our school year programs. So if you have any of the items below, bring them in and help more students enjoy the great outdoors!

We are requesting the following items in children’s/youth sizes (for children ECE-5th grade):

  • winter jackets
  • snow pants
  • hats
  • gloves/mittens
  • boots

Please be sure that donated items are clean and in good condition. Thank You!
