Fountain Creek Watershed Vision & Implementation Plan

Fountain Creek Watershed Vision & Implementation Plan

Urban waterways require dedication and attention, but the rewards benefit the entire community. The Fountain Creek Watershed Vision and Implementation Plan has developed a holistic vision for the Fountain Creek Watershed. The focus is on approximately six miles of the Monument and Fountain Creek corridors adjacent to downtown Colorado Springs, the symbolic heart of the Fountain Creek watershed.

The goals of the project are to restore natural functions of the creeks and to create a signature place for the community to enjoy outdoor water play. The restoration will be a catalyst for reinvestment and economic vitality in the downtown and energize the community. The project team is preparing in-depth designs to illustrate a vision for five of the highest priority project sites and an overall vision for the creek corridor from the Old North End neighborhood south to the Shooks Run Neighborhood. Each priority project is undergoing costing estimates to guide implementation and public/private funding efforts.
