The River Mile

The River Mile

Imagine a sustainable, walkable downtown neighborhood located along a mile of the South Platte River. Plans are underway to reclaim this section of the riverfront adjacent to Elitch Gardens and bring that vision to life. The community will feature state-of-the-art residences for everyone, with public parks and promenades, a new school, and a variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and cultural destinations to support family life in the city. A minimum of 15% of the development site is committed to affordable housing as well as a minimum of 15% of the site will be committed to additional park and open space amenities.  Build-to-suit workspaces will range from business incubators to regional corporate headquarters. Two light rail stations will provide public transit options. This project will be the largest in downtown Denver, spanning 62 acres and is expected to take up to 25 years to complete. The first step is restoration of the South Platte River and those efforts are already underway.
